New Generation Loser

Many people in the world are losers. You know - failures, flops, duds, lemons, complete washouts. They do not want to be losers; it just comes naturally to them due to their past experiences and upbringing.

These people are not bad people - they just have unattractive behaviors. In their frustration of things not going well, they indulge in maladaptive behaviors to find some sense of satisfaction and gratification. It is short lived pleasures that they find, and thus, they fail to find true happiness. But, I think I would argue that most people are not losers from their actions, but their lack of action.

See, losers that I am talking about are the people that complain about the world, but they do not do anything to change it. They could even be extremely passionate about the topic they are speaking on, but they are not willing to put forth the time or energy to make the difference. These people would be defined as emotionally reactive.

These people are wannabes and fakes. They are the skater that carries a decked out board, but cannot do an ollie. Or the musician that carries a $2000 guitar, but cannot locate the A chord. It's the philosopher that has only read Aristotle, and the actress that was a lead in the high-school play...once. Or, the model that was in an Alco advertisement wearing old lady pants, and...well, you get the idea.

But, then again, what do you do when your leader wins a Nobel Peace Prize for talking about what he wants to do?

Thoughts?

  1. well, it's hard not to be a loser. it's probably a lifelong process for most people, myself included. some people seem to naturally be something special, but i think of those people are rare treasures.
